Peter Mandelson Custard incident
Peter Mandelson was this morning covered in custard as he went to a environmental meeting to reduce Britains carbon footprint. The protester from plain stupid covert Peter Mandelson in custard to highlight their cause. Poor Peter he was trying to do something good and got egg on his face for his efforts. At Least this should highlight what he was doing and carbon offsetting. We hope this leads to more sucess for Peter Mandelson, Plain Stupid and a reduction in carbon emissions.
Carbon Offset Inspiration: MTV And The United Nations!
I get a lot of people asking me questions about carbon offsets, carbon emissions, being carbon neutral, calculating their carbon footprint, etc…. and I admit, it can be a little much.
We just posted a fantastic video that has a really simple, accurate, and real-world example of what carbon offsets are and how they relate to the workplace: http://www.carbonoffsettings.com/mtv-exiled-carbon-offsets/
It’s exciting to see MTV and the United Nations team up around carbon offsets- I remember growing up with MTV and the last thing the station made me think of was living green! Maybe we will start seeing carbon footprint calculators show up in music videos… now that would be groundbreaking.
Imagine: A rock musician walks onstage and offsets his world tour carbon footprint with the proceeds from that night’s concert- Imagine the headline: Radiohead uses ticket sales to offset the carbon footprint of their tour! I guess I’m just carbon footprint dreaming, but you get the picture.
Bringing carbon footprint calculators and carbon emissions consciousness to the mainstream isn’t as far off as it once seemed. In the future it would be amazing to see a person or business living with zero carbon footprint, but until then I expect to see people Reduce what they can and Offset the rest, which is exactly what the Carbon Advice Group advocates.
For explanations I like to refer people to the Carbon Advice Group website: www.carbonadvicegroup.com. Why?
1. The Carbon Advice Group answers questions. The people who started the site and the group are actually monitoring what happens there and respond to the people using their site. (email: news@carbonadvicegroup.com, Twitter: @carbonadvicegrp)
2. The Carbon Advice Group gets people involved by helping them set up their own affiliate microsite with interchangeable homepage skins, internationally accurate carbon footprint calculators and generous commissions to the people running their own microsites.
3. The microsite affiliate model is a strong way to get people to take ownership of their household carbon footprint, their block or their neighborhood, or their office.
So, watch the video, and once you understand a little more about carbon footprints and carbon offsetting, visit the Carbon Advice Group at www.carbonadvicegroup.com!
The Carbon Advice Group: Green Economy Innovation
Innovation is what drives any economy and the green economy is no exception. A quick look at the headlines and you will find that the U.S. and its economy is in need of some serious innovation. The emerging green economy is based on innovations that revolutionize the economic and environmental sectors- and the Carbon Advice Group is an innovative affiliate marketing network that addresses many of the challenges that face both the economy and the environment.
Everyone is looking for new ways to make money, and the Carbon Advice Group microsites empower users to offer carbon footprint calculators and carbon offsets that help the future environment and create clean energy alternatives while earning the Partner users commissions. Find out more at: www.carbonadvicegroup.com
Applying the affiliate marketing approach to an environmental, forward thinking cause like carbon offsets may strike some as strange or as a mis-match, but nothing could be further from the truth. The way affiliate marketing uses a web of users and marketers correlates to the way the environmental web of interdependence operates. And it even mirrors the complex relationships that are measured by carbon footprint calculators.
As the world’s first affiliate network for social entrepreneurs, the Carbon Advice group continues to expand its web offerings and presence to better serve its members. To further its mission, it provides individuals, organizations and businesses the much-needed ability to accurately measure the size of their carbon footprint, deliver methods to reduce it as much as possible and then provide a simple, reliable, high quality mechanism to offset the remaining carbon footprint.
As founder and serial entrepreneur Matthew Sullivan says, “We want to motivate the average person to get online, join our global network, build their own carbon offsetting website and get the message across to everyone they know.”
The Carbon Advice Group has expanded to include a United States version of its carbon footprint calculator in addition to the United Kingdom. The United States calculator will account for regional differences in prices. Providing two versions of the calculator will enable all users to more accurately measure their carbon footprints.
The Carbon Advice Group’s carbon credits meet stringent international standards. Users who purchase carbon offsets will receive certificates, windshield decals and luggage tags to display in vehicles, businesses or whilst on vacation.
“We are hugely excited at the prospect of engaging people across three continents. We will continue to develop new country sites and new partner sites with compelling graphics and standards second to none to ensure everyone we come in contact with has the opportunity to get involved with personally making an immediate, tangible difference to the terrifying effects of Climate Change,” said Carbon Advice Group founder Matthew Sullivan.
Designing carbon footprint calculators specific to country and region deepens the breadth of an already compelling answer to the “What can I do?” response to global climate change issues.
The Carbon Advice Group’s mission is to create a global network of social entrepreneurs in a green affiliate network by providing the necessary tools, understanding and motivation for them to bring carbon emission reduction and offsetting into the mainstream and make it a vital part of everyday life.

Carbon Emissions Mapped Out by Google and NASA
In a post for the L.A. Times this weekend, Catherine Ho gave a brief outline of the new carbon emissions mapping capabilities on Google Earth, the result of a collaboration between Google and NASA.
Information like this will help in the understanding of carbon emissions, the implementation of carbon offsets and the effectiveness of groups like the Carbon Advice Group.
“Scientists have developed an interactive map on Google Earth that shows fossil-fuel carbon dioxide emissions across the United States.
Users can view pollution levels from factories, power plants and residential and commercial areas in their state or county. They can also compare emission levels in their county with those of other counties in the U.S. The mapping system, called the Vulcan project, is based on 2002 data.
California, which has the second-highest level of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States, emits 100 million tons of carbon every year, said Kevin Gurney, an assistant professor of earth and atmospheric sciences at Purdue University. Gurney led the team of scientists who developed the project.”
Interesting news… Wait, California’s carbon footprint is 100 million tons of carbon every year? To be carbon neutral, what would California, as a state, have to do? After some research on carbon offsets and discussions with the Carbon Advice Group, I came up with what could be the biggest carbon footprint offset possible: $1.2 Billion.
Again: $1.2 Billion for California to offset its carbon footprint. Along with all of its other budget woes, it seems that California and our globally competitive economic output would have to go into global-sized debt to pay for the true cost of our carbon footprint.
A simple reminder to everyone out there to calculate, reduce and offset your own carbon footprint with the Carbon Advice Group: www.carbonadvicegroup.com
CARBON ADVICE GROUP PLC ADDRESSES CONCERNS
Affiliate network empowers office employees to take part in the emerging green economy.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Carbon Advice Group, a multi-level affiliate carbon offset network, addresses the concerns of green office experts by empowering employees to take the lead on offsetting their office carbon offsets. Morgan Lovell design firm representative Lara Conaway says that employee involvement is essential to greening any office, and that employers are increasingly expecting employees to do something about energy efficiency and awareness.
“We all know we need to do something about global climate change, and we need to do it now. We believe we have solved the ‘What’s in it for me’ problem,” says Carbon Advice Group founder Matthew Sullivan.
The Carbon Advice Group allows employees to take an active role in the emerging green economy by setting up their own affiliate site to provide and sell carbon offsets. The site offers motivated employees a short process to set up their own micro-site to promote and sell carbon offsets as part of the Carbon Advice Group’s network.
Allowing individual employees to be the “go-to” person in their company for carbon offsets, the Carbon Advice Group offers a compelling answer to the “What can I do?” response to global climate change issues. While many office consultants will discuss actions like installing efficient light bulbs and turning off computers at night, the Carbon Advice Group Affiliate program enables employees to lead their office in offsetting the energy that needs to be used for everyday business.
Carbon offsetting enables individuals and businesses to compensate for unavoidable emissions by purchasing equivalent greenhouse gas savings. With the Carbon Advice Group, these savings can come from wind power, biomass power, or a renewable energy charitable contribution.
Available carbon credits meet international standards and goals outlined in the Kyoto Agreement. Offices that purchase carbon offsets will receive certificates and luggage tags for display.
